Red's Journal. 9/24

After Gary told me there was no point in going down Route 22 to the Indigo League, I decided I’d go up to Pewter City and try to win myself a badge. On the way up to Viridian forest I caught a pidgey, and the first name to come to mind was Zephyr…An unconventional name, I know, but I think it’s perfect for him. In the forest, I saw the most adorable caterpie, I had an amazing urge to catch it, and so I did, and named him Bugeyes, which I thought was appropriate. But before I knew it, that adorable caterpie had evolved into an emotionally empty metapod. I made my way through the forest, and got attacked on my way to Pewter. I couldn’t do anything. A Ratata performed a quick attack and hit Bugeyes right where it hurts, splitting him right open…I had made and lost a friend before ever taking him to a Pokemon center. The worst part of it all was…there was a butterfree easily noticeable inside my deceased friend.

Red's Journal. 9/23

I woke up in a great mood today. As I left Pallet town, some random guy came up and gave me a potion and said to visit the PokeMart in Viridian, so when I got up there I decided to stock up for my journey. But the cashier had some package for the Professor, so I got to play delivery boy. To my surprise, when I got back to the lab, the Professor had a present for me, it was some little laptop called a Pokedex. (And I made him give me some Poke Balls…the cheap skate.) Gary told me not to ask his sister for a town map…So I got a map from Daisy. I left Pallet town, possibly for the last time and caught myself a Ratata, an adorable little thing, I named her Fang. After going back to Viridian, I decided to go train my Pokémon, and wouldn’t you know it? A Mankey came out of nowhere and attacked me! I couldn’t let the chance go, so I caught her and named her Zerk. I thought I saw Gary running around after I caught Zerk, but I dismissed it and went back to training. I cant say I was surprised that Gary wanted to battle the second he saw me, but that doesn’t make it any better. I had to hold back a lot so that my Pokémon wouldn’t kill any of his, but I have a feeling he wouldn’t do the same for me.

Current Party:
Charmander - Luke - Lv.10
Ratata - Fang - Lv.8
Mankey - Zerk - Lv.8

...Are you a boy or a girl?

Red’s Journal. 9/22/10
I walked out of my house toward Viridian and Oak stops me saying something about how Pokemans live in the tall grass. He took me down to his lab where Gary was waiting. Oak told us about how he used to be a Pokémon trainer and how he wanted to pass down his legacy to the two of us by giving us each a Pokémon of our own. I chose Charmander. I named him Luke. Gary chose Squirtle (What a fag, amirite?) and I don’t think he named him. But right away Gary challenged me to a battle. I won of course, but I decided to spare his poor Squirtle. As I was leaving I could hear Gary yelling at the Professor about how he picked the wrong one. Before I went out, I showed Luke to mom and she approved, saying how I should go take the Pokémon Gym Challenge. I think it would be pretty fun.

Current Party:
Charmander (Luke) Lv. 6
